India has announced its 2035 emissions target, providing a more complete view of the course the world has set for the next 10 years and beyond to its net-zero goals.
This new brief outlines the emissions implied by India’s 2035 NDC and updates our global outlook for emissions and warming.
Key findings, given all NDCs submitted, and the US withdrawal from the Paris Agreement, remain broadly aligned with our earlier assessments. When all targets and long-term goals are met in full, our best estimate of 2100 warming is 2°C. This is in line with best estimates from recent assessments published since late 2025, which cluster around ~1.8–2.2 °C by 2100, when all NDCs and long term targets are met in full. In contrast, projected warming is ~2.5–2.9 °C if emissions continue to reflect current policies, instead of declining to meet targets now set.
