The UNEP Emissions Gap Report 2023 - with quantification of climate pledges supported by Climate Resource

The UNEP Emissions Gap Report 2023 has been released - to which Alister Self, Jared Lewis, Johannes Gütschow and Mika Pflüger all contributed. The report highlights the progress the world has made since the Paris Agreement but that despite this, projected 2030 emissions need to be cut by 42 per cent to get on track to limit warming to 1.5°C. Ahead of COP28 next week, it sets out how stronger implementation can increase the chances of new NDCs, due in 2025, bringing down greenhouse gas emissions in 2035 to levels consistent with a 1.5°C pathway.
