COP26 pledges can keep the world under 2.0°C of warming, if met on time and in full - published as the cover story of Nature

We’re delighted and humbled to see the reaction to our article, published by over 200 news outlets globally and registering among the most widely read publications.

It explores the impact of the new or updated 2030 mitigation goals submitted by 154 Parties in the five years prior to the Glasgow Climate Pact, in their nationally determined contributions and the 76 longer-term pledges. Quantifications of the pledges before the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) suggested a less than 50 per cent chance of keeping warming below 2 degrees Celsius. Here we show that warming can be kept just below 2 degrees Celsius if all conditional and unconditional pledges are implemented in full and on time. Access to the article and related FAQs.
