Open Methane was launched yesterday at Parliament House. It uses satellite technology to measure methane emissions at a 10 x 10km resolution across Australia. It has identified Australia’s 20 major methane-emitting hotspots, all associated with coal or gas extraction and with much higher emissions than previously reported.
