Current emissions reduction plans lead to Australia emitting double what is required for 1.5°C and a chance of keeping the reef alive - report commissioned by WWF-Australia
There is a clear gap between Australia’s current emissions targets and the emission reductions required for Australia to contribute to limiting warming to 1.5°C and retain a chance of preserving its coral reefs. The Federal Government’s current emissions reduction plan, if met, would see Australia emit more than double its emissions budget consistent with a 50% chance of limiting warming to 1.5°C, as outlined in this Climate Resource analysis commissioned by WWF-Australia.
